From the automated attendant night menu we want to give the option for a caller to access the directory....put in 4 letters of the persons name, etc, etc.
I assume this is done by a selector code, directing the call to the directory. I know the directory is setup on the extension programming but my question is....what selector code can I use to reach the directory? And, you have to tell the selector code to access the directory....how do you do that?
I have seen some companies use a #.
Thanks

It is a fixed feature in Merlin Mail and Merlin Messaging - instruct the caller to dial *2 to access the "Dial by FIRST/LAST name directory" (whichever you have entered as the name for each extension)

Thanks for the information....got the names entered....tested the *2 and I was able to enter the directory.
But, when I did the test, the was no name announcement, it just started ringing the extension.
So then I tried it on our ext 100 which is the main phone. I call and the voicemail message answers, but if I enter *2, it puts me into the voicemail system to record a message. What am I missing?

*2 works from Auto attendants from mailboxes dial *8 and it will ask you to enter an extension or to dial by name press *2
