I recently inherited the distinction of managing a Merlin Magix and Legend PBX and trying to learn all I can. This morning I noticed on my Processor w/ CKE5 (617S33-K) that there is a red light illuminated and there is is nothing displayed on the single digit display at the top of the module. Can someone please shed some light on the red light and even where I can download a spec sheet / manual for this module?

Thank,
Chris

It means you have a permanent error in you log
menu
maintenance
errors
Permanent
Then tell us what it says

All the manuals and documents on the Legend/Magix are available for free from support.avaya.com. I believe the maintenance document would have the info mentioned above on the processor modules.

Happy downloading and reading!

All,

Thanks for the assistance. I got in and had a chance to read the error, nothing to out of the ordinary just looked like a user dialing problem that caused an error. Thanks for the link, I will be looking for manuals to download this evening.

That's a new one...a user dialing error causing a permanent
error log and turning on the alarm led..I have never seen
that happen before, has anybody else encountered this???

All,

The dialing error that caused the alarm was 911 hence dial 9 to obtain an outside line then 1 for long distance and way another 1 was dialed is unknown. I'd really like to identify what extension the errors generate from so I can talk one on one with the end-user if need be and answer any questions they may have. Can anyone share if that information is available or if it can be queried? Thanks for all of your help.

Chris

Do you get this error alot???? or is it a one time alarm.
Check your ARS patterns for any strange table routing.
That's the only thing I can think of. The only way of knowing what station might be doing this is a SMDR printout.

HiDesert,

Nope, I generally don't get any alarms generally. I believe it is more end-user fat finger syndrome than anything to do with my switch. Although, I need to know how to interrogate indicators / faults and act justly, just as any good tech / engineer should be able to do (in my opinion). Thanks for all of the help everyone! Keep the newbie info coming though!

Chris

I still think the ARS tables might be the place to look...
you could print out the tables....a mis-dialed number
could be going to a table with no pools attached to it.
But I don't know if that would cause a red alarm.
Maybe the other Merlin guru's can help out on this one.

I'm sure the error you're seeing is 0802 - E911 Overflow

0802 E911 OVERFLOW:

One of the following has
occurred:

All lines assigned to the E911
Partition or Adjunct are busy
or bad.
 No lines are assigned to
E911 Partition or Adjunct.
 No physical line is connected
to the system, the network,
or the E911 Adjunct.

Do the following:

Make sure the proper number
of trunks are assigned to E911
Partition or Adjunct.
 Assign lines to E911 Partitions
or Adjunct.
 Check that ground-start or loopstart
trunks are connected to
the E911 Adjunct.
 Check the network interface
connection.

I see this all the time. If all trunks in Pool 70 are busy, then no one would be able to dial 911 if necessary. We usually see it when they have PEI service, with those trunks in 890 or 891, and just a couple of back up copper trunks in 70.
