Hello everyone,

I have inherited a Magix system that has integrated messaging 617A49 (which I believe is the 1.1 release). I've been working through setting up programming but have ran into a snag. The sample messages for the selectors all contain a "*" before the number so it reads like "To reach sales, press star 1...." Is it actually necessary for callers to actually dial star then the selection while in the menu? If so, any suggestions for a workaround? I once set up a cheap Panasonic cordless system for friends that had an AA and it required a star so I guess I'm trying to figure out if we have something that sounds as cheap as that Office Depot system, either way we'll be fine [bigsmile]

Thank you for any insight in advance![thumbsup2]

No, it doesn't use a * in front of the selector codes, in fact that will just confuse the system. Selector codes 1 through 9 are just that, caller presses a digit and then what happens is what you set the selector code action to.

There are several built in codes that DO start with a *, such as *7 to log in and check your voicemail, *8 to transfer from wherever you are to an extension, *4 to repeat a recording, and *# to back up one level in the submenus (or repeat the auto attendant if that's where you already are)

Remember it can't tell selector 2 by itself from an extension number in the 20's, 200's, or 2000's, so you have to make sure your selector codes do not overlap the first digit of extension numbers.

TouchToneTommy,

Thank you sir, I really do appreciate your help. That is a relief, thank you for clarifying this for me. I know the Magix had to be a top notch system. Your expertise is very much appreciated.

Again, thank you.
