So after 1 year since we initialy signed our contract AT&T finaly got the PRI circuit turned up for our voice portion. Out setup is 2 bounded t1s into there cisco router with a PRI outbound to our Merlin Magix INA100. Testing went great for the 10 minutes we tested the 3 weeks before. When we went to port we had issues as they couldn't port the 800 numbers so that delayed us another 3 weeks. We finaly went live the port took about 30 minutes for 40 DIDs. Everything went smooth for the first 2 hours then no outbound or inbound calls. After talking to the tech to confirm the settings there we set to NI2 not 5ESS like I had requested. I also found that they won't give odd channel numbers( we had 11 channels before now we got 12) so I had to enable another channel on the avaya. Every thing went weel for the next 12 hours or so. After another 12 hours inbound call worked but outbound was a fast busy. Also more and more faxes atarted to fail. The only way to get the outbound back up was to power cycle the cisco gear until I could get a ticket open and get a level 2 at&t tech on the phone. In the older thread I saw the post to make sure we were using no compression on the voice channels so I request that g711 be the codec. They made some other changes as well to try to fix the outbound call issue. I will post an update after another 24 hours goes buy and we see if the issue was fixed. I will also call back if the issue was fixed and ask for the Router confim so i can post it here so anyone else brave (stupid) enough to follow in my footsteps can hope to get it right the first time.

After 2 months of nothing but issues we were finaly able to fix the PRI issues between the Cisco and Merlin Magix INA100. The fix makes no since but switching to AMI/DM4 from B8ZS/ESF fixed all of the CRC and Bad protocol Layer 3 errors and we haven't dropped a call or had a d-channel inoperable error in 5 days. To see the ISDN D Channel errors on the Cisco you need to "debug q931". Also note that to fix the layer 1 error I had to add 75 foot of cable between the Cisco and Magix. I assume we were overdriving the signal and adding the cable attenuated the signal.

Anyways we now have a working VOIP IP Flex service providing both data and voice of 2 bounded t1 with the Cisco router providing the PRI. Note that even had issues with T1 Cas from the Cisco before moving to AMI/DM4 so I assume that would have been fixed as well. Hope this saves someone else from the nightmare I just experinced.

I would be very interested to see all the settings on both your Magix and the Cisco for the DS1 connection. Please post.

By the way the line code/framing designation is AMI/D4 or AMI/SF or B8ZS/D4 or B8ZS/SF. There is no M in D4. When using Extended Super Frame, the line code is always B8ZS because ESF won't function without it.

What is model number on the Cisco? I aborted an install last night because the D channel wouldn't stay up and it seemed like a timing problem and I didn't want to be up all night going through what you just did... thanks. It is also an integrated product from XO. Thanks - Diana

The Cisco Router was a 2821, the Cisco Card that was providing the PRI was a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1. I have done 8bnz/ESF with other system without a problem but for some reason the Merlin Magix/Cisco combo doesn't work.

I tried repeatadly to get the Cisco Config from AT&T but they won't share it. So I can't help with the Cisco Side. Here is what worked and following what didn't work. Again it wasn't like it didn't work altogather but would work for an hour then drop all active calls and not allow outbound calls etc. On the Cisco "debug q931" and you will see all of the d-channel misframes, invaild protocol, etc
