How do I find the cable and block to connect to this card? I need to get 2 of these cards so I can get 72 phone extensions out of my system. Is there any issues with running a couple 412 cards as well 408 cards. I have 44xx phones as well as MLX phones so I know of that issue but I mean in the system having those 2 cards?

I can get the 412 cards on ebay is there possibly a better solution or card than the 412?

Like the 024 TDL, you will use a 25 pair cable with a male Amphenol plug to connect to the 412.

412s are common so they should be available on eBay. You can also order cards from online vendors.

If you only need to add extensions, but no POTs lines, consider adding 024 TDLs instead.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Ok do you know what 25 pair cable I would need and what does the cable connect to? The 024 cards and 412 cards I found online only sell the cards no cable or block.

I found this site that sells the cable but not sure what to connect the cable to

I see the blocks at the bottom of the page but is is 6 pair 2 conductor or 6 pair 4 conductor?

Sorry I have just never worked with these boards.

I terminate the loose ends of the 25-pair cable to a 24-port Patch Panel - which makes moving around extentions easy

Another option would be to punch down the loose ends of the cable to a regular run-of-the-mill 66 block and run a single pair cross-connect cable to your in-house blocks.

All of the posted suggestions for termination are excellent. Pick your favorite and run with it. [smile]

We use patch panels that have an Amphenol on the back and just clip on each end and go. works great.

Get the 024TDL board and use a straight-through amphenol cable that mates to a 66-block. Not only is that the easiest solution, but you won't waste any pairs either.

The 412TDL only uses the first 12 pair, plus the 25th for the powerfail POTS port...not an efficient use of a pre-term block or patch panel.

I agree with Tim (dagwoodsystems). With the 412, about 1/2 of the pairs in the 25 pair connector cable are wasted. With a 024TDL, only the very last pair goes unused. While (2) 412s cost less than (1) 024TDL and (1) 800GS/LS-ID, there is no wasted cabling and plenty of room for future growth. [thumbsup2]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

We have a 412 in our system now and need to add 12 more stations. The four analog ports on the 412 are being used for incoming POTS lines. Does it make sense to take out the 412 and add the 024 and 800GS? We do have two 024's in the system.

Swapping out boards with a Magix can be "messy" from a programming perspective.

If you have a free slot available in your carrier, I would suggest simply adding a new module there as opposed to changing things around.

If you just need to add extensions, but no lines, consider adding a 024 TDL. That will give you some more capacity for future growth.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

This was a new system install so it was no issue installing. We ended up buying the 024 card everything is running great, thanks for all the help and suggestions

Hi jdobbins311,

Another user, TheatreGuy, tacked on a question to the original topic, so merlinman and I provided answers. [smile]
