I'm working with a Merlin Magix system and in need of some analog ports.

Currently there is a 016 T/R card mostly working but some ports give me busy signal once the phone is pick up, I did card reset and lost tone an all ports, then restore, tone came back but same ports with busy signal, Also tried board renumber but same ports giving busy signal.

How can I fix those ports to work?

Thanks

Those ports are probably set as restricted ports. Go under extensions and check ARS restrict is set to 3, and outbound restrict is set to no restriction.

Already check that and the extension is unrestricted and the ARS restrict is set to 3:

This is the print out for that card:

2/ 1 34 N N N N U 3 N 2/ 2 35 N N N N U 3 N
2/ 3 36 N N N N U 3 N 2/ 4 37 N N N N U 3 N
2/ 5 38 N N N N T 3 N 2/ 6 39 N N N N U 3 N
2/ 7 40 N N N N U 3 N 2/ 8 41 M MODEM N N N N U 3 N
2/ 9 42 B MODEM N N N N U 3 N 2/10 43 DRMODEM N N N N U 3 N
2/11 44 FAX N N N N U 3 N 2/12 45 VMMODEM N N N N U 3 N
2/13 46 VM 1 N N N N U 3 N 2/14 47 VM 2 N N N N U 3 N
2/15 48 VM 3 N N N N U 3 N 2/16 49 VM 4 N N N N U 3 N

As you can see all are set the same way, the extension with busy signal are 34,37,39,41,42,43,44 all other work fine

any ideas?

thanks

Do a print of one of the the extensions that is not working properly. Possibly they are set to hotline extensions and the destination is not valid.

Make sure the auto line select feature is set to access the
pool or intercom when you go in an off-hook condition.

This is set up in Centrailzed Programming.

Menu > System Programming > Start > More > Central Program > Dial the Extension Number > Press Enter > and NOW for AUTO LINE SELECT:

Touch any button > Dial *14 > Press the BUTTON, YOU WANT TO BE THE FIRST OFF HOOK CHOICE > (then more if you need them) and PRESS ENTER.

That will make your AUTO LINE SELECTION the FIRST BUTTON that was pressed.

A side note that is not a direct factor with this issue...but something to check...Avaya issued a bulletin concerning a bad run of 016 T/R boards. The problem causes some of the ports on the boards to go to sleep. A system reboot would wake the ports up, but only for a while. The fix is to replace defective boards.

I don't have the specifics at hand, but I'll try to locate the info and post it. [smile]

Ok....Google Change Notice 1288B. There will be 2 links to Avaya's website...but...further down...will be a link to an earlier topic here on Tek-Tips that lists the crux of the recall. [smile]

Thanks but these cards are not the case, when I swap cards on the system they follow the position programming, so it does not matter what card I put on that slot it will give me bussy in the same ports.

Slot 2 some ports are bussy some others ok
Slot 4 all ports OK
Slot 6 all port OK

So the cards that goes on slot 2 always gets the bussy signal.
