Whats the ball park cost for a full blown Merlin Magic, voicemail etc.

It really varies a great deal - depending on what modules are installed, how many ports in the voicemail, how many and what types of phones, etc.

As Tom said, prices will depend on what modules are installed.

Also keep in mind that the Merlin Magix has been discontinued for over a year now. Most new stock is pretty much gone. [cry]

Now that refurbished parts are all that is left, the price of a Magix will now be less than if the system was composed of new hardware. [thumbsup2]

There is also a huge base of high quality, refurbished partns and processors available. If you are thinking of installing a system, you should have no problem finding good quality equipment for years to come.

Thanks for the reply's

Do a quick Google search for "Avaya Magix package deals" (without the quotes). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive a starter system can be.

These guys are NOT my favorite company by a long shot, but will give you a very good idea about what you can expect in regards to package pricing. Each company package is different, so you'll have to shop a bit. I'd also try to do a little wheeling and dealing if you need to line-item veto any item or have a need to substitute something with a different item.

Hi dagwoodsystems,

I am curious. What kind of experiences have you had with Metroline?

SYQUEST--I'll post here what I said to Dexman offline, which is essentially:

1) It was inappropriate for me to have posted a negative remark about Metroline Direct.

2) "Your mileage may vary". I apparently have had different experiences than many or most others.

3) I like their prices, and so do many people that I associate with (which is why I linked to them in my post). Of that group, only a few experienced the same problems that I did.

4) I apologize for being unprofessional.

Hi dagwoodsystems,

No apology necessary, we all can have issues with companies we deal with at one time or another. I have done business with Metroline, but it is good to beware of "gotchas".

I find some of the reviews on PriceGrabber, for instance, quite revealing after reading the "terms and conditions" for a given vendor and then a buyer's experience on a purchase.

As the old saying goes "buyer beware" and I try to be. No harm done, dagwoodsystems.

The thing to remember about Metroline is that they are a Gray Market dealer. Apparently they once were an Authorized Avaya Business Partner, but they both parted ways.

I have purchased from Metroline's for several years and have been generally happy with them (I am an end user, not a CPE installer). There have been a few "bumps" along the way, but I can't think of any company with a 100% satisfaction record.

I suppose if I was a high volume purchaser I might have more experiences to draw upon. [spin] [lol]
