merlin legend

we have a 12 year old merlin legend which doesn't work well anymore so we would like to upgrade it with a new system, maybe a panasonic, so I need to know if merlin extensions are home runs or are daisy chained.
this system it has 12 co and 32 extensions which are conected via 8 66 blocks.
what is strange is that some of theextension cards are connected with a spliced cable which has 4 modular jacks rj11 4 pin so this made me think that the merlin system uses a kind of network addresable protocol which will alow dasy chaining

The Merlin uses homerun 4 pair cabling for the phones, the "spliced cable which has 4 modular jacks rj11 4 pin" is most likely the dial tones connecting to the system

well, actually, if you want a really easy upgrade. And you dont have any of the classic merlin analog sets. Just swap out the old processor in the control unit with a brand new Magix processor. Cheaper then a new system, and easier too. Viola, new phone system.

You'll have to go with a Legend instead of a Magix to be able to use those analog sets.
