Can someone give me a quick verification of what modules would need to be in a Merlin legend to use DID over a T-1/PRI?

From what I have read it loks like a 100d module is needed for each T-1/PRI used.

This system only has an 800 DID module it it so does that mean tht DID is accomplished in another fashion? How is that done. I cannot get the correct information from the ILEC they say that we have DID over T-1, but I cannot find a T-1 connected to the phone system.

Thanks

Well, to DIRECTLY Connect a T1 or PRI to the Legend, you would need a 100D T1 Module.

However, most of the Providers usually use a T1 circuit to deliver the service to the location, but then sometimes break it out to an ANALOG D-I-D service.

That type of service would be connected to the LEGEND with a 800 D-I-D module.

thanks merlinman for that information, what do I need to look for to determine if this is what they are doing?

The connections from the 800 D I D modulg trace out to a punch block, and from there over to the demarc, I cannot find any equipment between them. Would there be something located outside the building possibly?

Usually not outside.

It could very well be that they are providing regular D-I-D service.

Of course, if the client is paying for D-I-D service, then the Provider can get it there anyway they want to, as long as they hand it off as regular D-I-D.

I'm curious, why is this an issue?

Are you having problems or just want to upgrade to a PRI?

We are installing new phone systems at all or our 6 locations in NC. The new system is an Avaya IP office, and that system I am told expects (or was ordered under the assumption of) the DID being channelized over a T-1. We have had T-1's installed at out other locations to do this, and someone assumed (ass-u-me(d)) that since this location already had DID that it was provided over a T-1. This came up in a conference call this morning and now I am trying to determine exactly how they are delivered.

As you can imagine this will have an effect on the installation schedule, which is on a Fast Track. The six systems are scheduled to be finished by the end of November. This location may have to be moved to the end of the schedule if a T-1 has to be ordered and installed.

Thanks for the help. As always I can count on the people here in this forum to be helpful and quick about it too.

jtudor1, it sounds as if this location is using standard DID trunks. If you are going to the IPOffice, you'll have to order a T1/PRI, since the IPOffice only supports analog LS/GS and T1 trunks
