I have a Merlin Legend R 7.0 V 10.0 I have two 408 gs/ls-mlx cards, 007 MLM, 800 DID card. Here is the thing I have 8 lines comming out from a Adtran unit ( so there like pots line). Each line is a private line on an ext. When there on the private line some one calls in and get a busy. I want the call to go to voicemail at there ext. How do I do this with the DID card Or can I. Trunks are loop start,# of digits sent to the CPE 0 ,This is the info from the phone company Globalcom.

Does voicemail pick up other calls at those exts? If not, you need to put thoses users in a cover group for the voicemail (usually group30)

Since each line is a private line, if they're on that line, it is 'busy'. Yes, DID's would allow multiple calls to ring on the set, and then cover to whatever you tell it to (in this case probably voicemail.) Can the adtran give you DID trunks? DID and POTS are completely different animals. At least you ahve the card. Also, the DID card only allows 'inbound' not outbound calls.

How would I get this to work if I had a DID# Ihave two extra numbers I can use??

voice mail picks up and it work fine but when a call comes in on one of the private # and someone is on the phone it's busy and does not go into voice mail I need the call to go to VM How can I do this????

OK, wait a minute. According to your first post you indicated that you have a DID card and a channel bank (adtran) with pots lines coming in. Do you have DID's? How many DID trunks?

I have 8 numbers that was ported over to globecom into the adtran unit so I don't think there pots lines but I will find out they come out of the adtran on to a 66 block from there I have them going to the 408 gs/ls mlx card I don't have anything pluged into the 800 DID card

Your lines are equivalant to pots lines. They are coming out of a channel bank. So the direct lines are administered as private lines to the telephones. You need to invest in some DID trunks, connect them to the DID cards, keep the "pots" lines for outbound, and hopefully the DID numbers you are assigned match up with your current dial plan for the extensions.

might even be more cost effective to dump the DID card and get a t-1 with two-way DIDs

rsurin: DID trunks are usually inbound only. Your order as many DID trunks as you want to be able to have inbound conversations going at the same time, plus a couple extra. You are given a group of phone numbers that are 'DID'. (You can usually convert your 'existing' trunk numbers to be DID--it sounds like you've got personal numbers already assigned, so you mihgt want to do that.) If an outside caller dials a DID number, telco picks any DID trunk to the Legend, and then sends the last 3 or 4 digits of the number to the Legend, and the Legend delivers it to the right extension. It is usually easiest if your extension numbers match the did. For example, if the DID number they give you is 555-555-1205, the extension should be 1205 if they're sending you 4 digits, or 205 if they're sending you 3 digits. That way, if one call is in progress, telco can pick another trunk, send the call to 205 again, and whatever coverage you have set up in the legend will work. In this case, your coverage will be voicemail. Does that make more sense?

I agree with Ghostin's mention of going with a two-way T1. If you need that many trunks, it might be cheaper, and you can get DS1 cards on eBay or the aftermarket folks.

Does that make more sense?
