I Have a Processor that is a R.1 no flash card and want to do a backup remotely.
Do I call in and ask to be transfered to ext 76?
Then use my WIN SPM 9.0 but click on the old SPM icon?
I heard that the earlier version of processor will not work with 9.0.

And can I then dump the backup on a Processor R 7 with a flash card.
Will I lose anything when doing this?

Thanks

JR2001,
So your saying I can't backup the Legend?
Hard to beleive that.
I'm sorry the internal modem is transfer to *10.
So your saying I can't save my existing programming.

Can you give me some input on this?

Thanks

You can do this, but not quite how you describe.

Dial in with ANY VERSION os SPM, and be transferred to *10.

WINSPM will automatically put you into STANDARD SPM MODE.

Do a back up to your computer.

DO A CONVERT to R7.

Load the CONVERT to the R7 with RESTORE.

It will work just fine.

Before you stop doing SPM to the R7, set the date and time.

Once you are ON SITE, just power down, remove the old Processor, and put in the R7.

You will loose nothing.

I knew there was a way, I just inherited a customer with a bad processor and used do The merlin Legend, now I work on IPOffice.

Thanks so much merlinman!!!

Tried to call in to system with assisted transfer to *10.
I get ring no answer, I should get a modem tone.
Does that mean the modem is turned off?
If so how do I enable it.

thanks

i think you may have a merlin II not a legend.could you describe what the processor looks like? does it have an admin port? also if you have atl sets(the old merlin set) I don't think they'll work w/ the R7. maybe someone else can confirm

ATL Sets will work with R7 - The last release that they will work with.

He stated earlier that he had an R1.0, that leads me to beleive that he has verified the fact that this is a LEGEND.

We could ask how he verified this.

here's what I have:
A Merlin Legend R2.0.
With a Admin and SMDR connection on the processor.
This is a Legend right? Whats the difference between the Merlin II and the Legend.

Thanks

Merlin II had an "X-RAY" port on the front that looked like an odd ball Serial Connector, and an SMDR port, NO ADMIN.

If it has an ADMIN, then it is a LEGEND.

Of course, an easy way to tell is to go to any display set, touch INTERCOME, turn on the SPEAKER and Dial *05.

That will give the RELEASE and VERSION in the DISPLAY.

I am sure that everything I have posted so far is revelant to your endeavors.

Yes your quite correct on everything. Here's my problem,

Tried to call in to system with assisted transfer to *10.
I get ring no answer, I should get a modem tone.
Does that mean the modem is turned off?
If so how do I enable it. In Maintenance?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot turn the modem on and off. I would do a power cycle. I have had even the newer processors glitch and no modem unless cycled. The only possible threat is if the processor battery is bad, you will loose all programming. If you have a printer that can attach to the system, do a print all first.

Well, as a former Tech Support Engineer, it is my experience that when you get transferred to *10 and get ring no answer, the most logical explanation is that they didn't do the transfer correctly.

Can you go on site?

Can you connect directly?

If they DID transfer you correctly, then the modem in the processor is hosed! BUT USUALLY IF THE MODEM FAILS, IT WILL RING TRIP, NOT RING NO ANSWER

You could have the OPERATOR do MENU > Maintence > Port > Modem > Reset, and see if that fixes it, but I would suggest going on site and connecting directly.

Thanks Merlinman,
That's exactly what I'm going to do.Go on site.

will keep you guy's posted.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Merlinman,
My processor is equipped with FM3.
The main switchboard is a BIS set.
there is no menu button on that set. How can I get into programming from the BIS set.

Will the R7 processor work with these sets?

thanks for all the help!

I still think you have a merlin II. does the processor have an admin port?

Well, yes an R7 will work with these sets, but NO ADMIN PROGRAMMING with the PHONES.

If you are saying it is equipped with a FM3, then I agree with jr2001, you have a MERLIN.

Again, you can use the R7, but you will be programming from scratch.

(But that's not too bad 'cause they hardly have any features now anyway!)

Just last year I upgraded a client to an ALL ATL LEGEND R7.

Since they don't have a SYSTEM DRIVEN CLOCK, or any VOICE MAIL, I never hear from them.

It works just fine, it just don't do much more than act like a simple phone system.

merlinman, you're right but I wouldn't even bother to upgrade to a release 7 and keep the bis sets. It's a halfas**d solution

Well, if they don't want to spend ANY MONEY, what can you do?

Part of the problem is that even though they are ANTIQUE, BIS SETS almost NEVER DIE!

Or - if they do, they can be had for a DIME A DOZEN in the after market.

The processor has two RJ45 plugs but not labelled one is for SMDR which stopped working.
I'm getting the info from the customer, I will be on-site this week.

When I tried to see what release and version from a display set(intercom>speaker>*05)did not work, I got incompatable tone.

When I had the customer dial *10, they got a incompatable tone. But when they transfered me to *10 I got ring no answer.

I will go on site and see what's happening.

Thanks
