MERLIN LEGEND MUSIC ON HOLD DISTORTION

HELLO GOOD PEOPLE...
I HAVE 2 CUSTOMERS STILL ROCKING THE MERLIN LEGEND TELEPHONE SYSTEM. BOTH ARE USING M.O.H. THROUGH THE ADAPTER AND INTO A LINE PORT ON A 412TDL CARD. WHEN ON HOLD THE VOICE PART OF THE MESSAGE IS NICE AND CLEAR. BUT ONCE THE VOICE FINISHES AND THE MUSIC COMES IN THE SOUND IS VERY DISTORTED. WE ALSO CHANGED THE RECORDED MUSIC TACK TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. NO LUCK.
I HAVE CHANGED:
1- 412 TDL CARD
1- MOH ADAPTER
1- LINE CORD
1- RCA CORD

I HAVE ADJUSTED BOTH THE ADAPTER & MOH DEVICE VOLUME CONTROLS.

ANY IDEAS OUT THERE OR HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THESE ISSUES?

Call from a land-line and see if it is distorted still. I bet you are calling from a cell phone. Cell phones do not support the audio of music so when music kicks on it will go in/out and there will be static. The best thing to do is have talking over the music as the cell phone will transmit the talking well.

A test I use is to create a PAGING LINE, and plug your MUSIC SOURCE into that port. That way, you can do an IN HOUSE test by dialing *9 and the LINE NUMBER to hear what it sounds like.

thanks for the replies...
when testing (which we did a dozen times) we called in on a LAN line and on hard wired phones. Tried adjusting volume all sorts of ways. Even loaded different styles of music to see if we could get the distortion to go away. No luck.

What is the "source" of the Music on hold? A CD player by chance, using a 3.5 MM Headset Jack?

The distortion you describe is typical of an IMPEDANCE MIS-MATCH.

The MOH adapter is supposed to be a (more or less) Universal Impedance Matching Device, but it can't fit all of them.

The SOURCE needs to have an IMPEDANCE of 8 Ohms at 1 Watt of power.

So, back to the original question, what is your SOURCE?
