We had to overhaul our systme for a new PRI, and had to reprogram from 2 digit to 3 digit extentions.

We are having the problem of the voicemail (duvoice) not being able to turn on the message lights on the phones.

We first tried clearing MLI lights and restoring MLI lights. That did not work.

We have duvoice programmed for #53 (pause) extension for turning on message waiting indicators, and *#53 (pause) extension for turning off the message waiting indicators, but it doesn't seem to work. So we tried turning it on manually by the phones, which we can do from our Legend system at our other location. From this system, only the switchboard is able to do it.

Is there something that has to be put in the program to accept the #53 to the extentions? Or is it a voicemail issue? Please help.

If the voicemail system is set up for 2 digit ext's and you changed to 3, the it won't do the MWL updates. As for the local MWL's try *53+ ext number.

I have told the voicemail to use 3 digit extentions, but it seams that the real problem is that 10 button phones can't do #53xxx. Only the switchboard and any other display phone can do #53xxx.

Is there a preference to change in the system to make all phones recognize #53? My guess is that will have all phones be able to #53 and the voicemail to do #53.

Try #26 at the local phone.

That's not working. When I do that, I get that invalid beeping noise.

OK, I think I have an answer.

First off, make sure the Voice Mail Calling group is set for INTEGRATED VMI.

The code for TURN ON is #53 Extension Number

The code for TURN OFF is #*53 Extension Number

See if that helps.

I already had the group set up as an intergrated VMI.

I'm open to any other suggestions. I just seems odd that the #53 option only works on the switchboard and display phones. Even if I plug the display phone into another jack, the #53 works there, but not with the regular 10 button phone. Is there something I'm missing with the extention set up?

On an MLX-10 - Menu - Messages - Delete will get rid of them.

According to my MLX20, I don't have any messages to delete.

On the phone with the light on it.

Going back to square 1, VOICE MAIL DOESN'T TURN ON MESG LIGHTS.

I think you need to put a digit grabber on your duvoice system and see what it's sending out.

A cheap subsitute for a Digit Grabber is a RADIO SHACK COMPUTERIZED CALL ACCOUNTANT, available on ebay sometimes.

These little guys are GREAT for seeing what a T&R Port is doing.

Have you checked the Message notification tab under the mailboxes in the voicemail. You may find that the template is disabled.

You can also check your port setup. Make sure it is set for the correct PBX type Legend or magix 3 digit extenions.

Have you rebooted the voicemail after changing the port setup? You have to reboot the voicemai for any port setup settings to take effect.

Also try the on and off codes from the analog ports using a buttset.

Don is:

"Message notification tab"

a duvoice option?

If so, that could very well be the issue, and YES using a test set on the Single Line ports should work also.

I am convinced it is a setting in the duvoice. Each mailbox has a message notification tab and you can disable it. also if he switched the integration from 2 to 3 digits in the duvoice it would seem to work ok, but unless a reboot is done not ALL settings take effect.

My first try would be a buttset on the VM ports. that would rule out the legend once and for all.

also you can watch the ports on the duvoice's computer monitor and you will see it try to send a notification within a minute of the message being left.

On your DuVoice, check that its integration is set up for a Legend or a Magix. They interface with a lot of stuff.

I have ruled out the duvoice. I have plugged my bis-22d on every extention that didn't work with the bis-10 and the voice mail works fine on the bis-22d. For some reason, the bis-10 's won't work with the #53 command anymore.

Is there any way I can tell the phone system to be able to use the bis-10 phones with the #53 command? That should be my problem.

On my other system, you can #53 on any phone and make it work on any other phone. On this system, #53 only works on the switchboard. Has anybody heard of that before?

Is rotary enabled on for the voice mail extensions?
