Hi Everyone:

I've perused thru the boards and was hoping to find an answer to my question, but I feel maybe the system in place that has been relegated to me may in fact be so old that it may be harder to find support from a community today than I realized. Anyway, here it goes:

On a Merlin Magix System 2.2, a new employee needed to cover several extensions in her department and I went ahead and programmed 3 (2 for her direct report, 1 for a staffer) SSA/R buttons on her MLX-10DP phone with a delay of 2 rings and all was fine. However, as soon as I added a 4th SSA/R for a 3rd team member she needed to cover for the phone would not give a ring for any of the coverage lines.

I couldn't figure out as to why this happened, but I went ahead and used the programming feature *40 in lieu of Shared SA and now all seems to work for now, but I'm still curious as to what may have caused the lines to stop ringing. Also, one SA button is now programmed as "70 Pool - I" and have no idea how that happened or how to remove it.

Again, any help is appreciated. I have familiarity with programming the system, but it is by far not my forte. I've only learned what I've had to in the time I've administered the system.

Again, thanks in advance for any invaluable insight provided.

You should start by downloading the Feature Reference from
Is it possible that at some point while programming, you dialed *345, which would turn the ring OFF on ALL buttons on the set? Did you try Ringing Options to turn the ring back ON?

Here are the maximums from the manual:
10 SA or ICOM buttons for each extension
27 Shared SA buttons for each multiline telephone
16 Shared SA buttons for each principal extension
3 system users for each call on Shared SA

You're well withing those limits.

To remove the Pool button, go to Extensions, Lines and Trunks, dial the extension number that you want to change and enter. Press Direct Entry, then press Inspect. You will see a list of the lines assigned to the extension, and they will all be a part of Pool 70. Now back up, dial ONE of those line numbers, and press Delete. Press Inspect again to make sure that they are ALL gone, and exit when done.

Thanks TouchToneTommy. It's possible I may have erroneously programmed *345, but I don't recall. I'll try the Ringing Options.

I could not get to the Direct Entry option for the Pool 70 and no Inspect option. I may not have that option, instead I reach Assign Lines/Trunks with Lines 01-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80 and Entry Mode listed. Any way to remove with these options?
