Hey all,

I just recenetly started a position with a new company, well they decided to fire the previous phone systems admin... and asked if i could help manage it..

Well where im stuck is that i am setting up an extension 21xx on our merlin legend system using winspm 9.0 i try to configure the phone to do a primary coverage on a ext. 21xx.. i am recieveing a button 15 error it says the possible cause: The maximum of 8 cover buttons may have been exceeded
pssible cause: the coverage extension can no be a QCC operator console..

any ideas???

seriously need some help here please!!

ok how do i delete an extension and set it up so i can have coverage on that extension?

Start by doing a print of the extension that you want to cover, to see how many and which other stations already cover it.

Hopefully, you have SPM software to do this.

System Programming > Start (or Exit) > More > Print > More > Extension > then the extension number that you are trying to cover > Enter

ya i use winspm 9.0 i will take a look right now

alright so i know what extensions are in the primary coverage... how do i add the extension in that group?

any take on this???

well i looked at one of the extensions such as 2189 and it is on board 6 slot 3, when i connect a phone line into that, it does not give an active line.... any ideas? or how can i erase the ext. out of the primary coverage and add a new one?

hire?? hahaha!!! i thought this was a forum for knowledge not a "for hire" site

back to the topic i will give that a shot... but i dont want to delete 2150 all together.. just that extension.. and had a new one.... so is that the right place?

well just took a look at standard spm their was no option for centralized programming

and also i dont see why one of my boards is not working.... is their something im missing.. like activating the board???

umm wait for someone else's suggestion.. try another forum??? idk look for someone whos not trying to make an extra buck.. but actually can help?? i have several options.. this is not the only forum im on fyi...

Look at your printout. 2150 is covered by these extensions:
A Primary Coverage : 2125 7144 2189 2187 2136 2151 2123 2122

I count 8 of them, the maximum allowed. So, one of them has to give up their coverage before you can add the new one.

In Standard SPM, press Page Up (More) and you will find Centralized Programming on the 2nd page.

ok guys found the centralized programming.. but in their it gives me a copy and program ext feature... if i type in any extension it gives me a page 1 and page 2... when i select them both nothing happens... and ya i found that you can only have 8.. which is why im trying to figure out how to delete one ext from the list that i dont use.... am i missing anything here?

im getting close... just need that one last step.. i do not have a delete option.....???? anyone?? its WINSPM 9.0

When you get to centralized telephone programming, and put in the extension number, press START. Then press the button that you want to program. Now there is a delete option, to remove the programming of that button. If it is button 21 or above, press Page 2 to get to it. If you're on page 2, and need to get back to buttons 1 through 20, press page 1

Thanks guys for the help i figured it out!!! just one more thing im trying to figure out.. and thats why one of the boards is not working.... the system inventory recognizes it, shows me the extensions on it... but when i connect a phone line to it.. i get nothing.. any ideas?? thanks!

What kind of module?? You could have a "bad" module and/or a "bad" slot. You could swap like boards - and see if the problem follows the board - or the slot. You could also try resetting and restoring the module from maintenance.
