Hi - A couple of lines on one of my 4-line Merlin 820D-2 cards are dead. I bought a new 4-line card, but before changing the defective one - do I have to reprogram the lines when I replace the card, or do my settings "stay put" in the control unit? In other words, is it a simple swap cards and plug the lines where they were, or do I need to reprogram each voice terminal after the change?

Thank you!

You should be able to power it down, swap the cards, then power back up and have the same programming....BUT, if the backup battery inside the processor is dead it will lose any programming it has when you power it down.

That being said, being an 820D2 it probably doesn't have much of any programming on it other than line appearances, and those should stay the same.

Thank you - so quick!!! I'll wait until my office closes and will give it a shot. Thanks, again. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thank you both. As it turns out, my board was fine. Verizon had come to my office to repair a problem on one of our lines and told us that it was OUR equipment that was faulty, not theirs. Turns out, they were lying. They returned today and discovered an "intermittent" problem at their end. Right! - after I bought the new board based on their incorrect assessment of the problem. Shheeesh.

But I'm glad that I found this site. Thank you, again.
