Hey....

Can anyone tell me how to save a message.
I have a message in my vmail box. I listen to the message but there is no option (i.e.... press 70 to SAVE).

Do I just hang up? If so, how long is the message being saved.

The message will be saved automatically, however, your system and class of service have settings which can erase the message automatically after they are a certain number of days old.

You need to check the following areas:

Log into Meridian Mail
Choose option 3 Voice Administration
Choose option 1 Voice Messaging Options
Page down to Maximum Read Message Retention (Days)
Set this line to 0 and Save it. If it is anything other than 0, this will supercede any and all individual Class of Service settings. Our system was set for 7 days and even though other users individual Class of Service were set to 15 days, their messages were being deleted after 7 days. I set my individual Class of Service to 0 and they were still being deleted until I found this system wide setting.

Now that you have checked the system wide setting, you need to look at your individual Class of Service

Exit back out to the Main Menu
Choose option 8 Class of Service Administration
Select the soft key for View/Modify
Enter the Class of Service number to modify

Oops, hit the wrong button

Continuing from the previous post

Page down to Maximum Read Message Retention (Days)
Set this for how long you want the messages to be retained. A 0 means the message will remain in the mailbox until it is manually deleted. Use caution in doing this as it will fill up the voicemail system. If you have a few individuals but everyone is on the same Class of Service, I would create a new Class of Service for those few users.
