Hi,

I currently administer two Option 11's, and have had little bother doing whatever tasks I needed. However, from time to time I have a problem with access to certain OVLY's. This I would guess is due to the user access level (or whatever it's referred to in Meridian speak) on my current login.

Is there anyway to view a list of users created on each system to see which I am currently using (access level, etc)??

These systems have both been bought second hand, configured, and passed onto me with login/passwd, but no other information. I know I could probably get someone from Nortel to 'hack in' at a cost, but I'm more intrigued by it than overly (no pun intended) worried at present....I'd also like to routinely change passwords, etc as a general housekeeping thing...

Any ideas ???

Cheers,
Paul

you probobly have PWD10 which is a customer level password
which will only give you limited overlay access

what country are you in ??

Hi Colin,

In the UK.

I do have a slightly higher level I would guess as I've configured SPN's, RLB's, trunks, CDP's, etc as well as all standard set administration.

Off hand I can't actually remember the overlays I wasn't able to gain access to, but before jumping ahead into the world of 'user/password' administraion (seeing as I'm pretty much the only person who administers anything)- I just wanted to get a better idea of how its' 'sposed to work ?

I have RTFM'ed by the way, but as you all probably know - the manuals don't really give a very good idea of a general 'real world example', rather, just an obfuscated bunch of pneumonics from which you can work things out. In password space - I'd hate to get this wrong and lock myself out!

Cheers,
Paul

If I'm not totaly wrong you can set which overlays (LD xx) PWD1 password can access. You can do that in LD17. However you need PWD2 access to change or print it.

If you manage to programm passwords and lock yourself out, remember to never take a backup in LD43 befoure you test it. And remeber to test it befoure the midnihgt routine begins because it automaticly takes backup. If you screw up with programming passwords, the only way to restore the passord is to sysload (XSL command in LD143) befoure backup has been taken.

To view or change passwords you need the 2nd level password (PWD2).
Changes are in LD 17, printing in LD 22.
If you don't have PWD2 then you will have to go back to the vendor that configured the system.
If that isn't an option you will have to pay Nortel (or a knowledgeable vendor) to get the password.
If it comes to that, depending on the software release, you may need the pdt password.
