I asked a while back about wiping out this system and its mermail.. the mermail is cleaned out (full reinstalled software from tape drive boot, tell me if I am wrong) ~thank you very much~ (HIPPA rules)

the switch is another problem.. I am familiar with loging into an opt 61c at another site and I am not getting the login prompts I expect on the 81c.. further digging left me stumped.. I cant get the switch to respond.. I have floppies and CDs for ver 25.40 and 24.25 and older.. none of the floppies have a clear clue as to (use me first) and I am having a hard time finding a set of instructions in the miss match of manuals I have found (on site and on line)

the system is not in use so I will not be messing up any ones calls.. the clients goals is to get the system "back to factory" so it can be sold off and not violate HIPPA rules

thanks

I don't think there are any specific HIPPA rules for things that don't (cannot) contain patient data.

If you can't get the PBX to respond - was it plugged in? Does any of it work? Is it actually worth selling - I'd just scrap it... the shredder is HIPPA compliant, and cheaper.

I know pulling the Hard drives and just selling a cold switch is an option.. but I like a challenge and an opportunity to learn.. the switch is looking for a boot source and I have a stack of floppies.. I just don't know what floppy it wants and in what sequence..

I have been doing my homework tonight and it looks like I need to deal with two halves of the switch, one half at a time.. looks like I need to use a reset button on the front not the power switch on the back.. but the manuals have yet to hint what disk is the initial boot disk

One of the floppy disks should say it is the boot disk. It would have your system type (ie. XX11 25.XX Boot Disk)

thank you Janaya, I was looking for 'Boot Disk' on the labels, I will look harder.

the floppy you need in the install disk which will boot up to a menu with an option to reload the software from CD(you will need the keycode file)

thank you all.. xinnam? I see the keycode disks and when I re-installed mermail the keycode is on the mermail cabinet so I know the keycode for the switch is a little different but I think I will stumble through that once I find the boot disk (any wisdom on keycodes is welcome) I will probably not get back to this till late next week..

If the system was working when you decided to do this, there could be a valid keycode.kcd file on the last backup. Check the disk that was in the system and it should be there, and you can use that.

I was reading this thread and it raised a question.. is this switch in a boot loop because there are no phones attached to it?
