Meridian nt5b01 phone system

I have a meridian nt5b01 01A phone system that is losing time, and will randomly
restart all the phones connected to it. Phones blink all lines like power went out for about 30 seconds until they restart. May work fine for day, may restart phones in 5 minutes. Hooked it up to a different surge protector, battery back-up, so power into the unit is not the problem.
Set the time yesterday, and it has lost an hour and half by today.
If there is no fixing it, i was wondering what is the default setting if i get another unit off ebay. i really only need 4 lines to ring, and be answered, keep ringing as long as there are unanswered lines, and hold.
We don't use any other features.

Sounds like old age is taking its toll. If your 616 software is DR2 or higher then you can just replace the control unit. Programming is held in the software cartridge if you have DR 2 or DR5. If your control unit is a DS model then you'll have to replace it with another DS control unit.

I figured i needed a new unit, how would i know which one i have. It has a cartridge on top that has a date of 05-06-1998. NT5B10CF-93... But nothing no where about DS or DR2 DR5. how do i find out what software it is, or if it is a DS unit or not.
When i would get a new unit, am i correct in saying, turn power off, let sit a little, pull cartridge, put in new unit, switch 25 pin adapter and phone line ins, and then just plug power in. Just making sure i dont have to do anything special, there isnt any chance of erasing the cartridge data is there?

According to a Google search you have DR5.1 software (non-DS). The only chance of defaulting programming is if the battery in the cartridge has totally discharged. Otherwise you're good to go.

if i get a ds unit. can i use that with my non ds card. i really dont need the ds part to work, just wondering if the hook ups are different, or just isn't compatable at all.

On a 616 the software and cabinet must match. So if your current cabinet is non-DS it must be replaced with a non-DS cabinet.

i had to use the whole new DS system, The non-DS card didnt work in the DS cabinet.
system works fine, but the default programming is not what i need, does anybody know menu items i need to change to make the following changes.

automatically picks up line with reciever lift (for making calls) CHANGE TO make line selection to make calls. just for making calls

1 phone will only ring and light up line number for line 1. line 2 or 3 doesnt ring on this phone. works on other phones
So i am assuming this is the 21 DN phone.... and something is set wrong.

Caller id also now displays name, the old system used to display the phone number, which is what i need.

Your best to call in a programmer (tech) as they are trained on "menu items".
You were warned about mis-matching DS and Non-DS above.

i can get into the system, and move around the menus just fine. i was just trying to save myself the time of trial and error of which item did what.

got everything fixed except i cant get the caller id to show phone number rather than name, worked before?

There is a setting somewhere where you can tell it which one to show first, sorry not sure off hand but maybe under sets/2xx/telco features.
