Hi there,

I'm very very new to meridian systems so please bear with me...

We've got a meridian 1 system with music on hold, however it seems to have stopped working and no one knows why!? Its an mp3 player which is wired up to a krone which then leads to a tie trunk krone (labeled as T3).

And quite frankly thats about all that I know, like I say I'm a total newbie to meridians (the old expert has since left the company) although I do have some knowledge on Avaya INDeXs, not that it seems to help!

Anyway, any help on where I should start looking would be great! I have tested the mp3 player, and that sounds a ok!

So I guess if I plug a 500 phone into the 19 03 TN all I should hear is music?

I've double checked the wires and re-punched them but to no joy.

No buttset around here, so I can't try that one :(

Hmm thinking about it a bit more I guess it showing 19 03 means that is where it will be looking for the music, and 19 03 is where the music (from the mp3 player) is wired up to.

So, I guess that means its all ok? Are there any further options to disable or enable the music on hold?

Maybe the port 019 0 00 03 is down or the whole card.

You could try dialing the route access code for route 50 see if you get fast busy or silence etc.... you may need to change the TARG on the route or TGAR on the set to be allowed to dial the ACOD.
I would think that if you get fast busy there could be a problem with the wiring or the XUT unit

The MP3 player output (ideally via a line matching transformer)should be connected to the first pair of your TN 19 3.

If you dial the ACOD as webstergl suggested, you should hear the music. Note the TGAR/TARG info webstergl stated.

If you hear silence and then, if you are feeling particularly venturous, and since you have no butt set, connect that 500 set to that TN, leaving all existing wiring in place. You should hear music. If not, either you MP3 is not outputting or you have a wiring problem. Your 500 set may draw down the music.....not sure. If you think this is the case, temporarily place a .01mf paper or mylar capacitor in series with one side of the 500 set..and whala..you have a butt set....well, kind of. Try it again.
