Hello,
I am having an issue here...I am currently working on an Option 11C R23 with Card Option Mail R11. This switch was apparently here already when the new tenants moved in. I was lucky enough to find the PBX password (not Lvl 2 however) written under the kb. I cannot however find the Mail pswd. I have an Install Tape, but when booting the mail with the tape drive connected, the mail will not boot. If I dis aml, power off mail, remove SCSI cable to tape drive, power on, enl aml, the mail boots fine. Any ideas why this thing won't boot from a tape?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

is that a good tape and drive? one almost has to be bad.. are you changing the term to 1200 for the boot? have you tried user admin and the same pwd as the switch? i think (old age) that rls 11 forced a pwd change so the default is not working.. does the 11 que for a user? prior to user, a lot of mails were left default.. admin and 000000 was real common for a long time.. does it have an old seer printer, bottom of that used to be mail pwd "hiding" area..

Thanks for the reply,
I did not change the baud to 1200, I was watching the tape drive for activiy, but didn't see any. I did try the level 2 pswd, but to no avail. There is no SEER printer on site, unfortunately. I am going to take another SCSI cable, tape drive if I can find one in the back, and I will try your suggestion of 000000 as a password. I won't be back out on-site until next week, and will post what I find out. Thanks again for the quick reply!

no problem.. good luck, if the tape does not spin.. then it seems that it may be a bad unit.. even with a blank tape, they run on boot.. and worse case the tape driver, on board the mermail card may not be sending..

check the scsi setting on the tape drive, check for bent pins on the cable
