Can someone please forward me the correct key macro to use in hyperterminal private edition so that the F5 key will emulate the F8 key on the meridian terminal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Try [tt]^[[21~[/tt] and VT-100 / VT-102

Actually ^[[21~ will be the same as F10 on a VT520. Use
^[[19~ for the F8 of the VT520 when used for Mail

Unkalary,
Is this the same for VT100? that is the protocol I am using.

^[[21~ is for vt-100

Does not matter what terminal emulation you are using, the
^[[xx~ is used by the Mer Mail. the xx is for 17 (F6) 18 (F7) 19 (F8) 20 (F9) and 21 (F10) of the VT520. The VT100 uses F1 , F2, F3, F4 the same as F6, F7, F8, F9 of the VT320/420/520. You would have to map the F5 with the "21" to emulate the F10 key. If you map a keyboard with this reguardless of which F key used it will work with Mail

I appreciate all the input! I try these settings in key macros on hyperterminal and when I use the F5 key all I get is some audible clicks on my work station and the Mermail screen seems to get 4 or 5 carraige returns. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Once agin thanks for all your responses!

It should translate to the same thing, but select decimal and input 027 091 050 049 126

This thread led me to teh solution to a problem that has mildly nagged me for three years! THANK YOU.
I am using HyperTerminal Private Edition Ver 6.3.

Here is what has worked for me today on FOUR systems, so far!
1. Menu {View}{Key Macros}
2. Button [New]
3. In the 'Key' field, just press the F5 key on your keyboard. <F5> will appear in the box.
4. In the 'Action' field, (THIS IS IMPORTANT!!)
Press the Ins key on your keyboard
Press the Esc key on your keyboard
Type [21~
5. Button [OK][OK]
6. {File}{Save} or {SaveAs}

Try it out!! It works for me!!!

Once agin thanks to everyone for your input! Hats off to PEMpal your solution worked!
