both are used for input/output functions, the utility card allows you to change your term rate to 38,400, the modem caps out at 19.2. both of mine are operating dark. you can check the status under hardware admin from the main menu and change setting under the tools menu
My question is because the last Wednesday my meridian mail down, the MMP40 and UTIL cards are off and I can't access to it. I think is a hardware failure. It is neccesary replace only the MMP40? or both?
the mmp 40 is for your voice channels, you can't access the term or it is down as in ring no answer? my 1st test would be to ld 48 stat aml, then try to boot off of the install disk. it should give you a screen if the util card is able to wake up. do you have a reason to think its hard?. (smoke) you may have fixed 100's of these so i am just shooting in the dark but before i shotgunned cards i would back out the modem and the 40 and see if she will boot with the tape hd proocessor and hd. after that my 1st choice would be a power supply
can't enl aml because its up. try dis aml 9 , enl aml 9 acms, (of fdl) if your interface back to a qpc513 tou may need to down that and reseat it. also try enl aml 9 lyr 7. 7 btw is the app layer, your switch shook hands but does not speak the same lang yet.
before you replace anything. pull the tape out of the backup drive and reboot with the tape out (hit the reset button on your mail system). get up walk around and give it around 10 min. and see what happens.
