Hi Folks,

Our Meridian Mail (r12) system hung overnight and will not restart. It seems to stop at this last message:

rogram Resource Manager [Arg=""] Node 1 Ver. 1.0 (MM12)
PRM(Info): Using software volume :BOOT100:
PRM: Waiting for Seer Server to register
PRM SetMMBlock: DoShutMM set to FALSE 0
PRM InitSystem: MaxProgs calculated to be 50
PRM Audit: Audit task is up
PRM InitSystem: starting VS node 1 prog 0 sibling -1
PRM: doing FOX security check

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help!

try to boot it from the install tape, that will tellyou if the prob is soft or hard. a quick work around while its down is make the ncfw the att dn on your vm acd, with all agents logged off calls will go the to att. until you can find the problem

The problem is the mail does not see the switch. The fox security check is the give away. It is look on the aml link for the security ID from the PBX. If it does not see that security ID from the PBX it will never boot into service. Another hint, make sure there is no tape in the tape drive when booting mail as it will look at the tape for a boot header to see if it is a bootable tape. This will take some time depending on the tape in the drive.

Make sure the aml link in the PBX is enabled correctly before you try booting the mail.

I have had this happen many times in the past. Once it stops at FOX security check, initialize the switch and it will continue the start up. It works every time.

Are you sure the AML is not disabled. Before you boot the MMail, go to LD48 & enter ENL AML x ACMS where x = the AML #

Bravo folks! Initializing one of my TMDI cards forced a warm boot in which Meridian Mail started sucessfully. Thank you all for the outstanding advice!
