Had this happen before. Power goes out, puny UPS dies after 5min and then power comes on shortly after.

Of course, I usually do the procedures involved in LD 48 with AML 9.

Problem is its not letting me re-enable it this time.

Code:
>LD 48
LNK000
.STAT AML
AML: 09 ESDI: 09
  LYR2: DISABLED LYR7: DOWN DSBL
.ENL AML 9 ACMS
.
CSA001 9 13:16:12 6/11/2007 4
LNK000
.
AMLM024 08

CSA001 9 13:16:16 6/11/2007 4

I've rebooted the VM several times and even the entire PBX with no luck. I know this noisy HD is on its last life, but it's being replaced by a tech Saturday and it would really suck if this thing died now.

Is there a way to check the cards? Disable/enable? Tried searching through here and saw reference to it, but not the actual commands.

HELP! Thanks!

if you have a tape drive connected, remove the tape drive then reboot the MM, then enable the aml with acms and wait.

if you don't have a tape drive connected, pull the processor card (68k card?), wait a few, reseat the card and enl aml with acms

make sure aml is disabled before you do any of this.

otherwise, looks like you might have to replace early

Pulled the whole MerMail piece out and slid it back in. Booting up now.

No tape drives at all.

I get

BSD POWER OK
BSD090 MAIL

upon boot. I think thats normal stuff.

Everything is already disabled. I just cant re-enable it without the terminal spitting our a line everytime I try to type.

Ok its working again. Now I don't have to worry about the receptionist killing me for at least another day.

I saw the FOX Security Check come on on my Procomm screen, decided to let it do its thing. Then I found myself in Meridian Mail and a minute later, Auto Attendant and VM were back up.

Only thing I can think of...was that even though the AML 9 was showing as disabled, I decided to run the DIS command anyway, and it looked like it took it, instead of spitting out an error. Rebooted the VM again and then FOX was going and I was just STATing the AML 9 on the terminal screen while FOX was going on the Procomm screen.

Can't wait till this HD replaced on Saturday because now I have to clear voicemail storage. I look forward to rebuilding all 56 boxes myself if I don't have to deal with this crap anymore.

Time to sneak back to my office and take a breather. =)
