Merging software deployments group policies

Hi Guys,

I have a few working group policies, each one deploys a seperate bit of sofware (e.g. one GP for Flash deployment, another for Acrobat Reader etc.).
I want to have a single policy with these deployments in it rather than a GP for each bit of software I want to deploy.

My question is that if I create a new GP and create the software deployments again for multiple applications, and then disable the existing mutliple GP's - will the apps have to reinstall as it's being assigned via a new policy (even though it's the same MSI's being installed, but just through a different GPO)

Yes.

And if you have the old policies marked to uninstall the program when it falls out of scope then it will uninstall them first when they are no longer covered by the old GPOs.

Fun times.

Thanks kmcferrin,

What would happen if the policy isn't set to uninstall when it falls out of scope. Would the new "Super policy" of all the apps remove and reinstall all apps in scope or just acknowledge they are already installed and therefore not do anything until I add a new update to the software install policies?

I'm not positive, as it's been a while since I did those GPOs, but IIRC, the app will not redeploy if it's already installed.
