Hello,

I used tapecopy utility to copy a tape to a filesystem device. After copy process finished I got the following error message:

MERGING TAPE: [BACKUP #1] RID [628c] SEQ [1] S/N[] INTO DATABASE...
SCHEDULED FOR 7/5/2004-18:30
Administrator@deltaphi kann im Authentifizierungsserver nicht geprüft werden auf
DELTAPHI

(translation: ... couldn't be verified in the authentication server)

Command line: tapecopy -s DAT40 -d FSBACKUP
-t"BACKUP #1" -c"BACKUPTEMP" -g -zd 1 -idd 628C

Copying the tape was successful but I had to insert the copied sessions manually into the database using the Manager.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Best regards,
Andreas Koltes

Andreas,

since R11 of ARcserve tapecopy is enhanced and, in fact, consists of two parts: the 'old' and the 'new' switches.
Your Syntax uses the 'old' switches -s -d -d -t. The -g switch for merging details is not compatible with the -s -t switches.
Check the administrator guide on the CD-ROM for the compatibility of switches.
If you want to achieve this you have to adjust your script or build a new one using ca_merge.
Hope I'm clear

regards

Martin

Martin,

thank you for your help, ca_merge works fine. I have to migrate/consolidate about 100 DAT40 tapes to SDLT and this will be less time consuming for me.

Best regards,
Andreas
