Does anyone know how to merge 2 .pst files? I have one on my laptop and one on my desktop, and I would like all of this info in one .pst file.

Any ideas appreciated.

Move one PST on to the other machine connect to it then move the messeage to the other PST an easy way to do this would be to archive everything older than 21/12/2999 to the other PST file.

Be aware of the 2gb PST filesize limit in pre 2003 versions of outlook though, or you could end up with bigger problems.

Spirit,

Do you mind telling me, step-by-step, how to do this?

Click File, then Open, and then "Outlook Data File". Now locate your .pst file and click OK. Do the same for the other .pst file. If you want to archive it then click on Tools, then Options, and click on the "Other" tab and click the "AutoArchive" button. Make sure "Archive or Delete old items" is checked. Next to "Clean out items older then three months" change that date down to 1 month. Make sure next to "Move old items to" that the pst you want to merge to is selected. Click OK, click OK again. Now click on File and then click on Archive (You'll probably have to click on the down arrow first and then click Archive). Now check the "Include Items with "Do Not archive" checked." and make sure the "Archive File:" is the correct pst and then click on OK. After this if there are any emails in your old PST then just drag and drop to your new PST from within OUTLOOK. Hopes this all helps.

It might be (have been?) simpler to use File, Import....

Tip1: Only have the PST file that you want to retain open in Outlook. Have that folder highlighted before you start the import.

Tip2: If you have multiple PST files due to file synchronisation issues then you want to avoid importing 2 copies of the same email. In this case you can use import with the option 'do not import duplicates' selected.

Thanks,

Gavin
