I have just configured Arcserve to use SQL as Database.
Since, i tried to merge some tapes but it doesn't work properly.

I get this problem => E3801 Invalid session signature (SIG=FFFFFFF) when merging some tapes

I tried to find an answer on the ca support website => NO RESULT

Has anyone an idea ??

Can you tell me more about the version of Arcserve you are Running?
There are many special requirements and quirks of the SQL database for Arcserve (as opposed to the RAIMA or VLDB database - these are references to the STANDARD Arcserve 2000 SP2 database).
There are certain install procedures and patches required when using the SQL database. SQL itself has many configuration requirements when used as the Arcserve database.
Let me know about the Version of Arcserve you run.
If you are using Arcserve 2000, there is no real advantage to using the SQL database other than AD-HOC reporting through SQL queries.

I'm using Arcserve 6.61 sp2a and SQL 7 on a remote machine.

I don't really have any solid answers beyond upgrade to Arcserve 2000 and use the standard DB, included with Arcserve SP2 (it also has a remote use capability).

Hi Julbe,

I've had that problem myself. I managed to get around it by choosing the "Restore from Tape Media" option, then restore everything off the tape. Then pick out what I want from the restored data. Not sure what caused the original problem...

Thanks,

After a scan, a "restore by media" worked properly !!

I had the same problem with merging tapes into a SQL database. The database was fairly large, 10Gig. The prune jobs were running successfully, but SQL was not running any optimization routines, so it just kept growing. Once I optimized the database, ARCServeIT recognized the smaller size of the database and the merge jobs worked fine after that.
