Dear All

After my Exchange server crashed on me last week I have two priv.edb and 2 pub.edb files

how can I merge the data from the old file into the new file

Exchange is working OK and the user have got the new mails

But they do not have the old mails and outlook data like calendar

Many thanks Leddy

It's impoosible to do this. Use EXMERGE utility from the resource kit to extract the data from one of the EDB's and the import the extracted data into the new EDB.

Many thanks for that tip

I have tried it and cannot connect to the old priv.edb file

Exmerge only works with a live Exchange server

A link to a similar thread which will assist

Chris

Maybe for some readers, you should quantify what "live" server means. Just thought it might help....

Many thanks for that

But how can I get the data off the offline priv.edb

I do not want to chenge over these files as Exchange is working OK

I just need to get the data off the offline priv.edb

You are probably correct not everyone will understand,
A 'live' server is basically a configured Exchange server with Public & Private stores not necessarily the production machine.

for Leddy
The best way is to bring up a Exchange server temporarily. If you take a look at the other thread mentioned I posted some MSKB articles that will be useful.

Chris.

How do I obtain exmerge.exe? I am running exchange 5.5 and need to extract the emails.

Thanks.

leddy,

I can get individual PSTs out of an offline EDB file, just contact me if you are totally stuck.
