mer mail not working

the ports show log out when I stat them ld 32
also when I stat the aml I get lyr7 disabled and I can not re-enable them opt 11c 22

fastest way to bump layer 7 if it will not respond to commnds is a cold boot, work 9 out of ten times, on a larger switch you can dis and enll the controller card.. i'm sure you've tried to dis aml x and enl aml X acms.. don't have my software on this box but the command is in the load 48 manual... the acms part, pls check.. it seems to be necessary before the lyr7 command.. and your agents can't log on without lyr7 (app layer) telling them to log

if it didn't come up on a restart and does not respond to enl aml x fdl... or enl anl x lyr7 you have a bad card

you are correct the merudian mail card failed.

switch off meridian mail, turn it on,
give command enl aml 9 acms
Otherwise mer mail will not boot up to service.
After that..just wait..it takes some time.

see to that mer mail units are enable.
Often card 10 for op11

the command enl aml 9 acms did not work
the lyr2 seems to like it but lyr7 does nothing.I have replaced the card and I get csa001 time and date then 9
this seems to indicate it is the wrong card type but if I
get the aml stats it tells me I have an esdi card for aml 9
so at this point I am confused

check the device number setting on that card, that assigns a interupt for the card, if the old card was a esdi, then your right, other wise out the aml and reprogram it as the correct card type

their is a bank of dip switches on the card that need to match the device number you'll use when programing. since that card can be in any slot you need to address it. the dip's are on what looks like a ic. very small
