Mer mail backup

I keep receiving an error when performing a backup. "Error:discard tape and insert a new tape marked number 1". I cleaned the tape drive, same problem. I recently used my install tape so the tape drive should be in working order. Thanks for the help.

sound slike the installation isnt complete.
The system is waiting for a special tape to be mounted.

A backup should not be asking for a special tapelabel like this.

Have you checked your SEERS log? That will tell you exactly what is going on.

if your using a tanberg tape drive insure that the device is set for 0 on the back there is a little window dial thing
that might help

Just wanted to share a similar problem we encountered.
We had the same problem and found out it was the SCSI cable. Hard to believe, but its true.
