I have an Hp Pavilion a1007w with 1024 meg of ram. Under system in control panel it is showing 896 meg of ram. I checked in bios and on system information and they both say i have 1024. I reseated the memory with no results. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Do you have integrated video without its own RAM? If so that's where the 128 MB went...it is reserved by the video subsystem.

The way it looks like, is that your onboard graphics (shared) is using up the difference (128mb is reserved for the onboard VGA)...

only way you are going to get more out of the 1024mb mem is to install an AGP graphics card or up the total amount of memory installed in the system...

...but only by ONE minute...[smile]...and that's only because I looked up the specs AFTER the post. Some might say that both of us need to get a life.

I was looking at them, and believe me the ones I found where a bit confusing... HP website said that it did not have onboard VGA, but looking at the motherboard showed that it did... LOL...
