memory reference 0x00000000

i have the same problem with the memory reference of 0x00000000 reference 0x00000000 could not be read. it only occurs when i shut my system down. system specs are

microsoft windows xp
professional
version 2002
service pack 3
genuine intel(R) cpu
t2600 @ 2.16ghz
2.16ghz 2.99 gb ram

1. Memory Test Is it a PHYSICAL memory problem - probably not.
2. Malware Scan Malwarebyte's antimalware, combofix
3. BIOS update
4. Look at startup items (msconfig or autoruns)
5. Look at items connected to PC (peripherals)

as mentioned in the original thread, do you have any TWEAKING PROGRAMS installed?

I would also suggest updating any drivers, AV (most come with drivers for their virtual mem controls (or whatever they use) to isolate malware)...

and of course do follow Gooms suggestion on running malware scans and to check the rest...

have no tweaking software installed only peripherals added is external usb cam and headphone mic drivers not needed system already recognized and in use the added peripherals. all drivers are updated to my knowledge run malware spyware and virus scan every week. have a comodo internet security for virus and spyware and malware bytes for mal ware scan.

What is it like from Safe Mode, can you reproduce the error?

If not try clean booting the machine or at least give the MsConfig tool a run.

Any unsigned drivers should be looked at as a possible cause.

the error message that pops up when shutting down from time to time is from a freeagentserver.exe brings up the error reference message and the freeagent device i have is an external hard drive which has not been hooked up in about 2 or 3 days

even if the USB device you have, is not attached, the service that the proprietary software package installs is still running in the background...

unless you really need that software package that came with the device, I would uninstall it and see if the error message goes away...

the freeagent software installed is for an external hard drive that i use on almost a daily basis until i upgrade the internal hard drive on my laptop

Uninstall it, reboot, and then try a few shutdowns to see if the error goes away. This is only a temporary test. You can reinstall it afterwards. In fact, this process of uninstalling/reinstalling the software might help anyway.
