Memory disapears

We have a Compaq Deskpro EN 600MHZ with 392 MB of ram running Windows 2000 . When we go to Performance the actual ram gets less and less until we get a message not enough virtual memory.Start up was cleared so that no programs are loading automaticlly. What can we do to resolve this?

Sounds like a memory leek, worm or trojan horse. Try and turn off some processes one-by-one and see it it fixes it. You have to find which application (or process) is the culprit.
