I have a database with an associated fpt memo field file that stores pictures of our products. I have used this database for about 4 years, constantly adding and removing pictures as products change.

Recently the file association between the dbf and the fpt has been somehow corrupted. I can still view the images from the dbf but whenever I try to delete and pack I get an error message :
"memo file is missing/invalid"

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, trying now. You may be right about file size. I was unaware there was a hard limit. I assumed as long as you had memory etc. there wasn't a limit (like Access/Excel).

The file in question (fpt) has grown to over 2GB in size :)

Thanks Dave, once we cut the file size down it worked fine. Thanks for the insight.

use the copy to command to copy the files into smaller pieces. Then clean them up using the pack memo command to clear out all of the unused space in the memo file and make it more manageable.

I would also add a samll routine to your startup that checks the file size and warns you when the file reaches 1.8 GB or 80% of whatever number you want so you can pack the memo file and or archive some of the older records...

PACK && pack DBF only
PACK MEMO && pack FPT (memo) only
PACK ALL && pack both files
