How do you know if you have enough Medpro resources?

you don't get dialtone on your IP phones, would be 1 symptom...

You can check how many DSP's are in use via:

status media-processor board 01A14

(for example), this will show you how many calls ar eup on each DSP. The TN2302AP has 8 chanels, each channel has 8 DSPs.

I see all active right now with more than 1 call on them.

you need to know what IP codec is in use. If you are using G.711, you can get 64 calls (8 calls per DSP X 8 DSPs), if you are using G.729 for example, that takes 2 DSP resources per call, so you will only get 4 calls per DSP (4 x 8, or 32 calls max).

you can 'display ip-network-r 1" (or whatever you are using), this will have the codec set listed, then do a 'display ip-codec 1' (for example) to check which codecs could be used.

Where would I find how many licenses I am currently permissioned for regarding the TN2602?

For CM4: "Display Capacity", on page 6, "TN2602 boards with 80 VoIP Channels" and "TN2602 Boards with 320 VoIP Channels". on a CM4 switch, they don't need licenses any longer... CM3 was different. On the switch I am looking at now (CM4), "available" for both is 128...

I'm running cm 3.1.. if I do a disp capacity I see a line saying:

TN2602 Boards with 80 VoIP Channels:1-used 127 avai 128-max

TN2602 Boards with 320 VoIP Channels: 0-used 128 avai 128-mx


In my switch I have 2 Medpro.. 1 2302 and 1 2602 so I'm not sure what the above is telling me.

I have a similar question - installing a TN2602 capacity says:

320 VoIP channels 128 avail 0 used

but when I try to install it with 320, it gives an error. If I install with 80, it is fine. Cant tell exact error, as in a live site using the 80 at present.

Any reason for this?

Also using 2 2303's in same port network.

you can't "mix and match" 80 and 320. In fact, you can't even have (2) TN2602A{'s in the same port network @ 320, unless 1 is a "hot standby".

Thanks, I wasnt very clear with my question, but there is only 1 TN2602 in the port network, and two 2302's.

Does having the 2302's restrict the use of the TN2602 to 80 channels instead of 320?. Or is it configuration issue, or a 3.1 quirk?.

This is your licence. If you aint paid for 320 channels you aint getting them.

Discovered the UDP reange in the network region needed to be increased before it will allow you to increase the channels on the medpro. Did this and can now increase it to 320 channels.
