Hey all quick question, we had an issue here today where an exorbitant amount of calls came in today and tied up all of our MEDPRO DSPs, however there were quite the number available in the G450's when "show voip-dsp" command was executed.

Majority of the calls came in on a G860 with CLANs connected to the Port-Networks. Now I know that since the calls are originating in the port networks, they would use the closest resources available, hence the MEDPRO DSPs occupancy, however we had major call issues and the G450 DSPs were unpopulated. Is there somewhere we can span the queued up calls to the use the DSPs of the G450s as well as the medpros in the G650s?

All G450s are in Port Network 1 as well as the MEDPROs

Thanks in advance!

me thinks you are confused , g450`s cant be in a port network do you mean network region ?

if you have available resources in a NR they will be utilized .... thats a pretty simplistic statement and you can configure adjoining regions but hairpinning and direct media will also impact on this .. its all down to the design of your estate.

Thanks for your reply!

Sorry, it was a long day yesterday... You are correct, Network Region 1 is what I meant to say, NOT Port Network 1

I knew it was silly of me to ask, but I did need confirmation.

So we are using Hairpinning and direct-media. All of our IP phones are registered via PROC too, how does this affect it?

I need to brush up on the basic concept of things again since it's been so long haha

Thanks in advance.

It depends on your software version. Avaya released the Enhanced Media Selection Algorithm in 5.2.1 SP12 or higher (and some corresponding service packs in 6.0.1 and 6.2). If you are below this release level then Communication Manager will select resources in the Port Networks to the exclusion of the G450 media gateways. You can force the calls by using different network regions but you cannot load balance them.
