Medion MD 4394 Scanner 2

Can anybody assist?
I was recently given a Medion MD 4394 Scanner without the installation disc. I mailed Medion and got a reply pointing me to the right software to download for Windows XP.

The software installs ok but for whatever reason Windows XP simply cannot find a driver for this scanner. I have directed the Hardware Wizard to just about every location where drivers might be on my machine but to no avail.

The software may just be the scanning software. You require the twain drivers for the scanner. Do a search on

or have a look at

http://www.driversguide.com

You need to register with driversguide, but this is free.

Thank you Kestral, but I did in all honesty forget to say that I had already checked with 'Driver Guide' with no luck, and the downloaded software is executed via a folder called 'Drivers'which seems that whatever is installed is either lacking or incorrect.

I also assume you followed the "extraction" instructions??

To extract all files press the "Extract"-Button. The files will be extracted to the folder specified in the "Folder"-Field. This folder will be created, if it does not exist.

It appears that there may be more than one scanner that was sold under the Medion MD 4394 label. One seems to be the ArtecE+48U. The other one may be the Artec Ultima 2000 E+.

You might want to try a different Artec driver for you MD-4394.

Eureka

I now have the Medion MD 4394 Scanner up and running thanks to 'lesgray' and 'dukeman21' was also very right - the correct driver file is 'E+ 48U'

Rather than go into a long discourse here I will simply say that if you try similar drivers that are not quite right then the right one will not be found until the others are removed BUT if you have installed certain alternatives it's not quite as simple as that. For anyone running XP that is still having an issue with this scanner then by all means contact me via my personal email address (below) and I will try to write the rather convoluted process that help me get it all running.

An important addenda to my previous comments is 'DO NOT Install the file e+48u_update.exe after installing the basic e+48U_Full.exe as this update file will knock out the scanner completely.
