media write error 84

Error in duplication process

Last several days we have been getting:
cannot write image to media id 040150, drive index 1 I/O error
cannot write data to socket, broken pipe
read failed, socket write failed (24)
write failed, media write error (84)

we have IBM LTO2 drives and using maxwell LTO 2 tapes

If they are IBM's, you need to be running 38DO firmware on those drives. This firmware fixes a lot of issues.

What library are these sitting in?

we have storagetek L700 library.

just found out we are running lto2 ultruim and firmware 38D0.

Check with Veritas for the firmware/driver you need to use.
Clean the the drive and reboot the robot. You should be good to go.

I got the same error but my storage is a Hitachi disk (SAN)and the disk (according to the diagnostic application) seems healthy.

might be worth checking out the /kernel/dr/st.conf settings, if i recall LTO1 drives were only generically supported in solaris, not sure about LTO2 as we haven't any
