Hi all,
I'm a NetBackup newbie.
I want to implement a LAN-free backup solution.
Actually I've 3 Windows and 3 Linux servers.
The tape library, an Overland with 2 drives LTO-3 and 30 slots is connected in a SAN.
I've seen that is necessary a media server on each server that I want to connect directly to the tape library. Does it correct ?
My question is, how can I configure NBU to share the 30 slots (tapes) and backup the different jobs consecutively ? I don't want a number of tapes assigned on each media server.
Can be possible ?
I hope your help about.
Thank you

I gather you mean LAN free as each server backing itself up.

If you have SSO ( shared storage option ) you can share the drives between the media servers, but only 1 server will be the robotic control host. The other servers will be defined as robot is controlled by remote host and will send their requests for mounts through it.

Netbackup 6.5 is supposed to allow media sharing between media servers.
