Besides changing the bp.conf, can anyone tell me how one can create a media server in a Sun installation of NetBackup?

Is this a current Netbackup server?

Are you just trying to install a netbackup server?

You need to install the binaries for a media server on the server that you wish to utilize as a media server. It is not simply a matter of using an existing client install and modifying the bp.conf file.

During the installation it will ask you who is the master server and will become a media server.

Hi,

in any case after the installation you will have to modify the bp.conf file on your master server. Below the first SERVER= line which should contain your master server's name, you have to add a SERVER= line with your new media server's name.
After that you should be able to configure the media and storage unit settings for your media server.
If there is a firewall between both servers, make sure you open the necessary ports!

Just a cautinary note when modifying the bp.conf = Make sure that the firs line is:
SERVER = MASTER-SERVER-NAME
There mut not be a blank line or anything.
