media position error (86)

I am receiving an error 86 (media position error) every so often when my backups run at night. I am using an ExaByte robotic tape library w/ Mammoth 2 drives and running Veritas NetBackup 3.4 on a Solaris 8 platform. I have made the necessary entries to the /kernel/drv/st.conf file and have rebooted with the reconfigure option set. Out of about 30 servers that I am backing up, 8 of these received this error. I did notice that the servers which received this error were subsequently backed up on another tape. Could I have a batch of bad tapes??

some link about the same problem. You have to do some debugging . Try ltid with v flag and start gathering some logs.
