Hi...

I'am setting up a media pool in Brightstor 11.1, how on earth do I know the number of tapes in the save set and scratch set ?

Is there an easy way to setup an autopilot job with media pools.

Kindest Regards

Scott

Depends on how long you want to retain the tapes. We retain them for 30 days so theoretically we need 31 tapes. Though we have some extra's for contingency.

A good starting point is as mentioned above with how long you want to preserve tapes.

The standard Rotation over writes tapes each week.
The GFS has Daily, Weekly, and Monthly tapes.
Daily - overwritten each week
Weekly - overwritten each month
Monthly - overwritten each year

However these can be modified by changing the Media Pool configuration. If the retention time and or number of tapes in the Save set is increased then the # of tapes needed will increase.
