Media Player keeps popping up - XP

Windows Media Player keeps popping up every minute or so, with the default site loaded. I changed some options in Media Player, such as removing the checks in front of "Allow Internet Sites to Uniquely Identify your Player" and "Enable Automatic Codec Download." I checked IE security settings and added the Media Player site to the list of restricted sites. Also, history, temp files and cookies were deleted. No luck. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

This might not be helpful, but I'd start by installing adaware and/or spybot (download.com) and doing a full scan of your system.
