Upgraded from the Media Player supplied with Win XP and got the beta Media Player 9. Looks good, media library feature works/looks fine. Very happy with its performance until a couple weeks ago. Visualisations in normal or full screen disappeared although they continue to work in the minature skin mode. Then last week, Media Player refuses to produce sound when 'playing' mp3s. Then it produces distorted sound. Then it gets clunky and doesn't clear the screen after dialogue boxes, then it crashes.
In any 'normal' application, uninstall/reinstall would be the next obvious step. Of course you cannot uninstall Media Player from XP.
So I go to MS downloads, and guess what? Media Player 9 release candidate is now available, and 'if you have been using the beta, you should now download the latest version'.
This I did - and all functions back in full working order.
Except one - no visualisations in normal view.
Any workarounds from fellow sufferers would be interesting.
Thank you for your time.
Thregwort.
