Hi guys,

I’m having a small, but annoying problem, with Media Player 10

My .mp3 collection is arranged by albums in folders, and when I attempt to “Play All” as per the picture, the cursor sand-timer appears briefly, but nothing happens? MP10 fails to load.

Atm, I have to right-click the album selection and play them from there

Any ideas what’s going on? Any way I can restore MP10’s settings etc?

Thanks,

SW.

If things were working OK recently have a look at using System Restore to go back to then.

Have a look for any Services that are listed as Automatic but have not Started.

Look in the Event Viewer.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

Hey - a fellow Foo Fighters fan :)

I have exactly the same problem whereby the "Play All" button does not work. I have just started to manually select all then right-click on one file and select Play. While this does not resolve the issue, it is a quick work around for now.

TheLad,

Hey, do you use PowerDVD 7 or any Nero 6.6.0.16 software - I think I may have narrowed it down to these two culprits?

Just done a fresh install and "Play All" works atm, and I'm just installing my software around it, checking the feature all the time?

The only software I haven't installed is PowerDVD and Nero - I only bought them recently and my system was fine before installing them...

I'll let you know!

Cheers,

SW.

Nero does seem to effect some software negatively. If, after installing Nero, the problem re-occurs, you could try re-installing MP 'on top of' everything else. Also, check that you have all codecs, and I think MP needs a certain framework, although I could be wrong. (maybe .NET?)

There is one solution that will prevent all problems regarding music: install Winamp!

Well, maybe not all...
