media mount failed 1

I am using backup exec 8.6. The tape is ejecting halfway thru the job with the error media mount failed. I am using a tape that will hold 24 gigs and have checked all the compression settings. The tape should more than hold the info I am trying to backup. I am using a single tape device. Any ideas?

I think this might be a SCSI or driver error. Can you check your System log and see if there are any driver errors?

I found the problem and fixed it. Apparently Backup Exec doesn't like .pst files. It hangs when it encounters a corrupt .pst file.

I am getting the same error "media mount failed". Here is my log.It has a 40g capacity but craps out at about 32g. Please advise.

Your issue is different. Same error message, but different cause. 40GB is a APPROXIMATE tape capacity. You have to count the header information and anything else that may have been on the tape.

Basically, it appears your job is failing because the job needs a second tape and isn't getting one.
