Trying to connect a fiber-CAT 5 TRANSITION Networks media converter to a 3750. It will come up on Copper but won't come up on fiber. Have tried swapping TX/RX, fiber is fresh out of the pack.

This is needed to provide a ship that is fiber, but receives connectivity to shore via copper. Have tried to set up on my test bench as copper from one 3750 to fiber on another 3750. When fiber is hooked up "right" to the media converter it disables the copper port on the 3750.

Anyone had a similar experience? Tried checking both companies website but found nothing.

I can't make head or tail of that - in your first paragraph you say your media converter won't connect to a 3750 ?SFP?(specify?), but in your second paragraph you say it won't connect to a copper port.

I suspect your media converter is not capable of Gb speed and you are trying to connect it to a Gb SFP in the 3750.

Sometimes...
Cisco devices have a hard time syncing with devices like fiber converters, and the ports on the switch need to be forced for speed and duplex. I have certainly seen this on the 2950's.

Give it a shot.

The SFP ports on a 3750 run at the speed of the SFP only - you can't change the speed/duplex operation of them in the switch config.

Ok thanks for the info looks like I will have to come up with a GB media converter.

...or buy an FX SFP for your 3750 instead of the SX(?) one you've been trying with.
